Only certain persons allowed to live in industrial parks

The Government issues the Decree No. 82/2018/ND-CP dated May 22, 2018 prescribing management of industrial parks and economic zones.

This Decree provides that human habitation in industrial parks and export processing zones is prohibited; only foreigners who work as managers, chief executive officers and experts are granted temporary stay permits if necessary.   

The following requirements for a foreigner's temporary residence must be satisfied:

- Temporary residence serves the business and production needs of enterprises;

- He/she is not allowed to stay with his/her family and relatives;

- He/she is obliged to abide by temporary residence registration and declaration procedures stipulated in applicable regulations on entry, exit and residence of aliens in Vietnam;

- Dwellings of foreign managers, chief executive officers and experts need to be separate from production and office areas; are bound to maintain social security, order and do not cause any adverse impact on operations of industrial parks and export processing zones.

The Decree No. 82/2018/ND-CP will enter into force on July 10, 2018.
